Photography at Washington University can have a powerful impact. It presents stories about our values, our people and our community. Maintaining high standards of photographic quality reflects the excellence of the university.
Access to WashU Photos
General Use Collection
The Office of Public Affairs provides free access to a curated collection of campus and St. Louis photography. Each semester, a new set of photos will be added and available for general use. This collection is designed to support all WashU marketing and communications professionals in creating compelling and strategic digital and print materials.
To request access to the collection, please email WashU Photo Services.
If you are looking for a specific image, email Rachel Twedt. Please include as much detail as possible in your request. Providing the date of the shoot, event name, and/or relevant people’s names is particularly helpful.
In some cases, we may refer you to the University Archives, as we transition older photos to the University Libraries for long-term preservation.
WashU Photo Library
The Office of Public Affairs provides WashU licensed users access to its photo library, which allows communicators to easily find, share and contribute photos that are approved for university use.
Licensed users may log in to Pixel with their WUSTL key.
If you are a WashU employee and would like a license, contact Galen Harrison.
Medical Campus Photo Library
The Office of Medical Public Affairs maintains a database of existing photography of the Medical Campus for WashU communicators.
For more information and access, visit the Office of Medical Public Affairs.
For general queries or all other requests, such as for non-WashU or media use, or for image licensing, please contact Anne Davis Cleary.
